New site, more work coming
Janice Rumbaugh, San Francisco regional artist, designer and gallerist, has imbued her life with the belief that art and life are continually intermingling and shifting. The afternoon that she walked into Vorpal Gallery- saw images by M.C. Escher and Jesse Allen , and heard the flute music of Paul Horn- she knew that she was in synchronicity with this life path.
The natural world, the sciences, ancestors, and the art and design of antiquity. Her contemporary influences include: Pat Steir; Robert Rauschenberg; Vanessa Gingold; Shahzia Sikander; David Hockney; Yayoi Kusama; Xavier Viramontes; Kathan Brown; Elizabeth Murray; John Cage; and, numerous Bay Area contemporary printmakers.
Printmaking, Jewelry, Textiles, Digital Art.
Her textiles love began early in life, and continue on to jewelry design in her high school jewelry making class. She became self taught in advanced techniques of design, and finished her BFA at SFSU- with additional classes at Ft. Mason Printmaking, CCSF.
Janice is passionate about SF Bay Area non-profit arts organizations and the vital role they play in our community; since 2005, she has been the SFWA Gallery Director.
